A New Wave of Influence

Before social media took over about 10 years ago, Filipinos and Filipino-Americans didn’t have a platform where we could share our culture and our lives with the world.

Today, in 2022, we now have YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, where we can tell our stories in our own way, give voice to our thoughts and concerns, and (re)define how our version of the “human experience” is portrayed in the media.

Since I was born in the United States, I thought I would first take a look at some of the biggest Filipino/a/x-American Influencers making waves in the digital space. I’m interested in seeing what they’re doing to represent our Philippine heritage.

What I discovered is ultra fresh, forward thinking and edgy. I feel so proud it gives me goosebumps.
